Stuart Kershaw

Stuart was trained as an editor in the United States at Penn State University before moving from the East Coast to Los Angeles where he made the leap into Marketing with Paramount Pictures and later honed his experience with 20th Century Fox. Stuart returned to the UK in 2003 where he set up In the Dark Productions with Samantha after receiving a 1st class honours degree in Film at the University of Wales.
Most recently, Stuart directed the documentary film Ocean’s 14 and theatrical feature, The Calling. He has worked extensively as a director, camera operator and editor worldwide, covering events from regions as diverse as Uganda and Antarctica to Palestine and Kashmir in both journalistic and filmmaking capacities. Stuart specialises in hostile location work and underwater photography.
Stuart’s directorial film slate has been distributed globally and ITD’s comprehensive, in-house production suite allows him to work efficiently as either an independent, or as part of a team, providing competitive rates without ever compromising on artistic vision.
Stuart recently broke three world records with the British and Irish rowing team La Mondial. The Team crossed the Atlantic from East to West in a new world record time of 33 days 7 hours and 30 minutes. Stuart operated as both an oarsman and on-board director for the 2007/8 three thousand mile odyssey from the Canaries Islands to The Bahamas.
Sam Fazackerley

Originating from the Theatre, Samantha has worked on over 25 productions over the last eight years, transferring the skills she acquired in classical performance to the unpredictable and fast paced nature of modern cinema.
Samantha has performed a variety of roles in both classical and digital environments from Set Designer through to Production Manager, in performances and productions as far and wide as Australia and Alaska to Burma and Palestine.
Sam has served as producer on The Virgin Trade, The Calling and In the Dark’s latest project Ocean’s 14 and has a proven track record with international sales in territories on every continent.
In 2003 Samantha formed In the Dark with Stuart Kershaw, forging a creative alliance that has grown into one of the most innovative and successful in the country.
Edward L. Dark
After graduating from Gloucestershire University with a BA honours degree in Film Studies Edward managed to secure himself a job in the film industry working in Visual Effects.
After starting on Roland Emmerich’s 10’000 BC and working on the BBC Production of Wide Sargasso Sea Edward found a job on the New Line Cinema film Inkheart (Directed By Iain Softley) as a Visual Effects Assistant. After becoming a Visual Effects Coordinator on Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince he has now moved onto the final instalment of the franchise on Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2.
Re-visiting the short film format has been an ambition for Edward since he screened his first short in the local Odeon Cinema in Worcestershire. However; he has become rather more ambitious since those humble beginning and now plans to Direct and showcase his next project, Chasing Cotards, on the BFI IMAX cinema in London. Since 1997 and the foundation of Digital Movie, Andrea has been at the forefront of the digital revolution. Andrea’s dictum has been communication through imagination. With his fully integrated Studio that he runs with his brother Matteo, Andrea seeks to empower our clients, fueling their need for expression with images and sound.
Andrea has over fifteen years experience in the media industry and has worked on numerous documentaries, commercials and scientific expeditions around the world.
Matteo Mescalchin

Matteo began his career working as a camera operator for Italian television in 1995. Since then he has worked as a director of photography for national television, directed live multi-camera set-ups and been employed internationally by organisations including Canal+, Roland Garros, Sky TV and the Cannes Film Festival.
Matteo specialises in location and set lighting at his studio outside of Venice but is comfortable performing a variety of production roles that he has gained experience in over the last decade. As both a freelancer and with Digital Movie, Matteo has worked extensively across four continents in regions as diverse as Sudan, the USA, Yemen and most of Europe.
Bee Hope

Bee handles all our admin and is the first port of call at In the Dark. If you can get through her you might actually get to speak to one of us. Bee spent twelve years working in the civil service and then for the local government assembly as a clerical officer. She makes sure people pay us. She is our rock.
